BLC members are currently serving as advisors and providing technical expertise on the ReMA Recyclability Protocol for Fiber-based Packaging. This science-based tool is designed to assist users to determine the recyclability of their packaging while increasing knowledge of product packaging comprised of recyclable and non-recyclable materials. The BLC members will work collaboratively with ReMA to identify other barriers and challenges in the marketplace that will be incorporated into updates and improvements of the protocol.
BLC members have an opportunity to be part of ISRI’s long-standing Design for Recycling® efforts. Over the years, ReMA has worked closely with product manufacturers in the automobile, appliance, and electronics spaces on issues related to the impact of product design on end-of-life and circularity. With the help of our new brand members, we now look forward to expanding this work into a more residential focus including consumer single-use packaging and household/personal care products. We will achieve this by working together to address pressure points and recognize, as well as promote, advances that increase recyclability.
Multiple opportunities exist to network with and influence the work of ISRI, especially with our Commodity Divisions, which are responsible for the updating and maintenance of ISRI’s Specifications that have helped define the commodities bought and sold through the global recycling market for nearly 100 years.
Whether it be ISRI’s 75+ educational and networking events throughout the year, weekly recycling market reports, suite of premier publications, or access to our staff expertise on a variety of issues—ReMA will provide BLC members with exclusive access to the most up-to-date and relevant information/data on the recycling industry.
BLC members will receive additional opportunities to publicize their commitment to sustainability and recycling through a variety of valuable resources, including thought leadership opportunities to speak at/be included in ReMA events; ReMA member logo; optional press release announcing membership; profile in Scrap News; and/or promotion of “sustainable products” through various ReMA channels.
