(Washington, D.C.) – The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) today released the following statement following the Senate confirmation of Gina McCarthy as the next Environmental Protection Agency Administrator:

“ISRI congratulates Gina McCarthy on her confirmation as Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Recognized as one of the first green industries, recyclers process more than 135 million metric tons of materials in the U.S. each year, while globally reducing greenhouse gases by approximately 500 million tons. We look forward to working with Ms. McCarthy, and building upon our existing relationship with the EPA, to enhance our nation’s recycling capabilities and further the many environmental benefits of our industry.”
