Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton to Deliver Keynote Address at ISRI2014 in Vegas

Feb 6, 2014, 09:04 AM by Mark Carpenter

(Washington, DC) – The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) today launched the registration for ISRI2014, April 8-10, in Las Vegas. Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will deliver the keynote address. Apple Computer Co-Founder Steve Wozniak will deliver remarks at the opening session. ISRI2014 is set to provide scrap recyclers from around the world with the educational and networking opportunities, product showcases, and industry news needed to run a successful business.

Never before has there been such a must-attend scrap recycling event as ISRI2014,” said Chuck Carr, vice president of member services for ISRI. “ISRI2014 returns to Vegas with more exhibits than ever before, and dynamic programming designed to meet the unique needs of our industry. If you are in the scrap recycling business, there is no better place to be next April.”

ISRI2014 is set to be the largest ReMA Convention and Exposition ever with:

  • The largest exhibit hall ever, featuring more than 300 exhibiting companies offering equipment, products, and services specific to the recycling industry;
  • More networking opportunities with thousands of industry professionals from every state and more than 45 countries;
  • More General Sessions, Spotlight programs, and workshops; and
  • A redesigned schedule designed to meet the needs of attendees.

ISRI’s Distinguished Speakers Series will include a keynote address by Hillary Rodham Clinton, Former Secretary of State and Former U.S. Senator from New York, during the Closing General Session on Thursday, April 10. Hillary Rodham Clinton served as the 67th U.S. Secretary of State from 2009 until 2013, after nearly four decades in public service. Her "smart power" approach to foreign policy repositioned American diplomacy and development for the 21st century. Clinton played a central role in restoring America’s standing in the world, reasserting the United States as a Pacific power, imposing crippling sanctions on Iran and North Korea, responding to the Arab Awakening and negotiating a ceasefire in the Middle East. Earlier, as First Lady and Senator from New York, she traveled to more than 80 countries as a champion of human rights, democracy, and opportunities for women and girls. Clinton also worked to provide health care to millions of children, create jobs and opportunity, and support first responders who risked their lives at Ground Zero. In her historic campaign for President, Clinton won 18 million votes.

The Opening Session will include Steve Wozniak, scientist and Co-Founder of Apple Computer, Inc. A Silicon Valley icon and philanthropist for more than 30 years, Steve Wozniak has helped shape today's computing industry with his design of Apple's first line of products and his influence on the industry ever since. Wozniak currently serves as chief scientist for Fusion-IO and is a published author with the release of his New York Times best-selling autobiography, iWoz: From Computer Geek to Cult Icon, in September 2006 by Norton Publishing. His television appearances include reality shows Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List and season eight of ABC's Dancing with the Stars.
