Deliverables Set at Law Enforcement Advisory Council Meeting

May 7, 2014, 16:33 PM by SPAN
During the April 8, 2014, meeting of ISRI’s Law Enforcement Advisory Council (LEAC) in Las Vegas, agreement was reached on three deliverables. The first is a glossary of industry terms translated for law enforcement. Once completed, this glossary, which will include photos of restricted and regulated materials, will be available online. Second, is a guide for prosecutors containing basic tools and strategies for prosecuting metals theft cases. This will be coordinated with LEAC members who are associated with the National District Attorneys Association (NDAA). Third, is a short video to illustrate the issue of metals theft for executive level law enforcement officials. Timelines for these goals vary but extend into 2015.

The association with the NDAA has already proved to be beneficial.  Not only in their contributions to the LEAC, but also with assisting in metals theft training.  A metals theft training session has been scheduled for May 13, 2014, at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI, organized and hosted by the ReMA Wisconsin Chapter.  The NDAA assisted in the advertisement of this event by circulating an informational flyer to prosecutor contacts in Wisconsin and surrounding states.

For more information about LEAC activities, contact Brady Mills, ReMA director of law enforcement outreach.
