Last Frontier State Joins Metals Theft “Club”

Alaska is poised to make metal theft laws the rule across all 50 states
House Bill 305, as sent to the Governor on April 24, 2014, would require scrap metal dealers keep paper or electronic records of scrap metal transactions for $100 or more, retain records for five years, and provide for inspection by law enforcement. The status of HB 305 and other bills that impact the industry can be tracked with ISRI's State Legislative Tracking System, available to logged-in members from the ReMA State Policy page. Once the bill is enacted we'll add the 50th state summary to ISRI's State Specific Policy Resources page (member log in required) and ISRI's State Metal Theft Statutes compilation (available to the public).
