Scrap Recyclers to Host Annual Commodities Roundtable in Chicago

Aug 13, 2014, 10:30 AM by Mark Carpenter

September 15-17 event provides in-depth look at key scrap commodity markets

Washington, DC - The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Inc. (ISRI), the Voice of the Recycling Industry™, will host its annual Commodities Roundtable Forum, September 15 to 17, 2014, in Chicago, Illinois. The once a year event is a must-attend for all involved in the trade of scrap commodities from processors to brokers to buyers. It provides the most comprehensive view of what is happening across a wide range of recycled commodities including ferrous and nonferrous metals, recovered paper and plastics and the key trends impacting the $80 billion scrap recycling industry. It also serves as an excellent opportunity to network with industry leaders.

This year will feature a special spotlight discussion on manufacturing and the global economy, highlighting areas of growth and what it means for the economy and global scrap commodity markets going forward.

“Given the global nature of today’s scrap recycling industry, market participants need to know what is happening not only here at home but in markets around the world,” said Joe Pickard, ISRI’s chief economist. “Uneven economic growth in the U.S. is currently being compounded by growing uncertainty overseas. This year’s Roundtable Forum will give participants the invaluable chance to be part of the conversation that will cover not only the challenges faced by the scrap industry but also what new opportunities are on the horizon.”

Confirmed presenters at this year’s Commodities Roundtable include:

     Barry Hunter, Hunter Alloys
Markus Moss, Steel and Metals Market Research
     Alasdair Gledhill, ELG Metals
     Joe Pickard, ISRI
     Chris Greenfield, Federal Metal
