ReMA Files to Expedite Surface Transportation Board Rules

Mar 21, 2019, 11:09 AM by Paper Beat

ISRI filed a petition to lift the restrictions on ex parts communications with the Surface Transportation Board (STB) in order to educate the two new STB board members about the proposal to revoke the rail exemption for ferrous scrap. Understanding that this is an issue that affects all commodities, we invited the American Forest and Paper Association (AF&PA) to join us in advocating for the inclusion of paper into this rule making. The rule would remove the rail exemption that prevents shippers from appealing to the STB regarding poor service, emerge and other tariff charges, and other rail related problems.
