New Return to Work Tools from the CDC

May 24, 2020, 11:24 AM by EHS Update

The first tool is a decision tree infographic for employers that encapsulates the major issues to be considered when returning to normal operations.

The second tool is a web guide addressing the special considerations for people at high risk to COVID-19.

Typically people at higher risk have one or more the following:

  • People 65 years or older.
  • People with chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma.
  • People who have serious heart conditions.
  • People with severe obesity (body mass index [BMI] of 40 or higher).
  • People with diabetes.
  • People with chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis.
  • People with liver disease.
  • People who are immunocompromised.
    • Many conditions can cause a person to be immunocompromised, including cancer treatment, smoking, bone marrow or organ transplantation, immune deficiencies, poorly controlled HIV or AIDS, and prolonged use of corticosteroids and other immune weakening medications.

Finally, OSHA has produced an excellent video which covers the requirements regarding voluntary use of respirators.
