Registration Now Open for the Spring ReMA Safety & Environmental Council (ISEC) Conference

If you manage safety or environmental issues—or both—for your recycling company, then don't miss the next meeting of the ISRI Safety and Environmental Council (ISEC), May 6-8 in St. Louis. This event offers two and a half days of workshops on timely, important safety and environmental topics, including sessions on fire safety, succeeding in a multicultural workplace, and how to conduct a safety self-inspection of your operations. ReMA Safety staff will review successful safety program efforts they have observed in the field. Two communications-focused presentations will review how to interact with the media after an incident in your facility and how workers can communicate effectively with their supervisors.

In addition, two representatives from OSHA's St. Louis Area Office will review common hazards in scrap recycling operations and outline the key elements of effective programs regarding confined spaces, lock-out/tag-out, and personal protective equipment.
Per tradition, the meeting also will include an "Open the Kimono" presentation in which a recycler discusses a safety incident in his or her operations and reviews the lessons learned.
