On December 4, 2018, ISRI’s Transportation Safety Director Commodor Hall attended the National Safety Council (NSC) Road to Zero Coalition Meeting, held in Washington, DC. ReMA became a Road to Zero Coalition member in November of 2018. Approximately 150 people attended the meeting, another 250 participated on-line, and currently there are over 800 coalition members. Preventable motor vehicle related crashes are the third leading cause of death in the U.S. behind heart attacks and cancer, and approximately 100 people are killed each day in a motor vehicle related crash. The coalition’s mission is ZERO ROAD DEATHS BY 2050. Deborah Hersman NSC’s President and CEO, Beth Alicandri Associate Administrator for the Federal Highway Administration, and Terrance Cunningham Deputy Executive Director/COO of the International Association of Chiefs of Police were just a few of the guest speakers. The session also included an insurance panel which focused on distracted driving. For more details watch the recording of the Road to Zero meeting.
