The ISRI Circle of Safety Excellence (COSE) awards program recognizes and rewards member companies for outstanding commitment to the safety of their employees by instilling core safety values and exhibiting continuous improvement in safety programs and worker incident reduction. The Deadline for entries is March 15. All active Circle of Safety Excellence™ members located within the United States and Canada, who process or consume scrap material and are committed to operating safely, are invited to submit their entries for the COSE Awards. If you are not yet a COSE member, you still have time to join the by completing an online application by March 15 (3 years of historical data is required with the first submission). Award recipients will be recognized in the following categories:
- Best-in-Class Award (Completive Based: Granted to the COSE Member Company or facility with the lowest OSHA Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) for the previous calendar year (2018). First, second and third place prizes will be awarded in each of four class categories.
- Rising Star Award (Performance Based): Granted to the COSE Member Company or facility that has achieved an OSHA Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of 2.94 or less for the previous calendar year (2018). The standard of 2.94 was derived from a five year NAICS Code (4239) TRIR average. Awards will be in each of four class categories, defined by annual hours worked.
- Superior Achievement Award: (Performance Based): Granted to the COSE Member Company or facility that has achieved an OSHA Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) of .75 or less for the previous calendar year (2018). Awards will be in each of four class categories, defined by annual hours worked.
