On Tuesday, April 16, ReMA will host the session “Be a Star Supplier: Supporting Your Customers’ Sustainability Goals” during the ISRI2024 Convention & Exposition in Las Vegas.

Featuring Chris Bedell, general manager for corporate legal affairs at Nucor, Amy Brackin, senior vice president of sustainability at Liberty Tire Recycling, Tim Ridderbos, general manager at Circular by Shapiro, and Bart Van Cromvoirt, vice president of corporate sales and development at ATH Mechanical and Recycling Inc., the session will focus on how recyclers can support their customers’ environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals and reporting by providing data for environmental tracking, formalizing policies, answering supplier surveys, and sharing their social impact stories.

ISRI News had the opportunity to chat with panelist Amy Brackin about the upcoming session at ISRI2024 and some of the experiences she’s planning to share with attendees.

What can attendees look forward to learning from the session?

Our goal for this session is to engage our audience and share some of the ways we are working with our customers to either support their sustainability strategies or to show them how our partnership can give them a leg up over their competition – whether it be emissions reduction, waste reduction, product reuse, or community engagement.

What are you most looking forward to about the session?

I’m really looking forward to collaborating with the other panelists as there have been some great ideas shared already. The hope is that we can also learn from this audience as well and have some dialogue around what works, perhaps what doesn’t, and come away with ideas on how to improve our customer/supplier relationships through sustainability efforts.

Can you tell me about your expertise/background?

I have been in the tire recycling industry at Liberty Tire for 12 years. My career started here in business development, expanded into market development, and within the last several years, has shifted full time to managing our sustainability programs.

For me, while sustainability has always been a part of what we do here at Liberty Tire, learning the fundamentals of ESG and the role it plays in our business has been an area I have had to educate myself on as we built out our program, which I find is not so uncommon. Prior to Liberty Tire, I was in the synthetic turf industry, and early in my career, I held several marketing roles in the technology space.

What are some highlights you plan to share during the session? How do you hope your experiences will impact attendees?

As a recycler, we know we have an important role to play with our customers and in supporting their sustainability efforts. Sometimes, finding the right ways to communicate the value of that service can be challenging. We hope that in sharing a few of the things that have worked for each of us we’ll spur ideas for the audience to be able to leverage similar concepts with their own customers.
