Washington, D.C. – The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Inc. (ISRI) has released a series of fact sheets designed to better educate policy makers, media and the public about the U.S. scrap recycling industry and its significant contributions to the U.S. economy, job creation, environmental protection and energy savings.
A Washington, D.C. based trade association, ReMA represents nearly 1,600 private, for-profit companies operating at more than 7,000 facilities in the United States and 30 countries worldwide. ISRI’s members are processors, brokers and industrial consumers of scrap commodities, including ferrous and nonferrous metals, paper, electronics, rubber, plastics, glass and textiles. ISRI's associate members include both equipment and service providers for the scrap recycling industry.
“The scrap recycling industry is not only growing in size, but is continuing to play a more and more important role in job creation, helping level the U.S. trade balance, and strengthening the economy as a whole,” said ReMA President Robin Wiener. “Despite this, many misconceptions about the industry continue to linger. ReMA is a clearinghouse of information about our industry, our members and how what they do is having a positive impact in local communities and around the world.”
The fact sheets, covering everything from environmental benefits of recycling to safety to energy savings also include the latest industry breakdowns of all the commodities ReMA covers. The fact sheets can be accessed at www.isri.org/factsheets.
