ReMA Member George Chen Receives Special Recognition for Work in the Recycling Industry

(Washington, DC)- The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) congratulates George Chen, president of ReMA Member G&T Trading International in Clifton, New Jersey, for receiving the Commissioner’s Award from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.  George was honored at the Association of New Jersey Recyclers annual recycling symposium.

“For George, recycling is a passion that he cares deeply about and shares with others as a way of helping preserve the planet for future generations,” said Robin Wiener, president of ISRI. “He has shown a strong dedication to the industry through various leadership roles and through promoting its many benefits. We are proud to call George an ReMA member, and congratulate him on this well-deserved award.”

Each year the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection recognizes achievements in recycling by counties, individuals, businesses and municipalities across the state.

Mr. Chen founded G&T Trading International in 1997.  He served as president of ISRI’s Paper Stock Industries Chapter, and currently serves as ISRI’s paper division director.  He also serves as the president of the New Jersey Paper Recycling Association. George has served as the president of New Jersey’s Paper Recycling Association since 2002.

“This award represents 17 years of hard work and obstacles I had to go through as a first generation immigrant from Taiwan in order to build my own recycling business,” Mr. Chen said. “I have been blessed to have had the support of the industry associations, ISRI, PSI and NJPRA, as well as my family and friends. This award encourages me to continue to promote recycling and our efforts to keep this earth green for the future of our children.”
