(Washington, DC)- The Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) recently announced the details of the “Just for Fun” programs at the 2015 ReMA Convention and Exposition, to be held April 21-25 in Vancouver, Canada.
“Vancouver is a major culinary destination with amazing restaurants in every part of the city”, said Chuck Carr, vice president of member services for ISRI. “We have chosen to have our ‘Just for Fun’ programs this year expand on that theme. ReMA members have come to expect the best food at our conventions, and now they will have the opportunity to make some of their very own.”
Thursday, April 23 will feature a presentation by The Food Network’s own Iron Chef Alex Guarnaschelli, Executive Chef New York’s Butter Midtown restaurant. Chef Alex has many years of experience as a culinary instructor and television chef. She is often seen as a judge on The Food Network’s show “Chopped.”
Friday’s “Just for Fun” program will take participants to Granville Island Market and the Edible Canada Restaurant on the island. As its name suggests, Edible Canada features products of all kinds grown and produced in Canada. Participants will tour the expansive Granville Island market, collecting ingredients for later cooking demonstrations that will feature heavy audience participation. Attendees will enjoy lunch after the presentations and time to shop among the local merchants and artisans of Granville Island. There is limited space available for Friday’s program. Interested attendees should reserve their spot at the Just for Fun/Information desk at ReMA Registration.
ISRI2015’s final night celebration will kick off at 6:30 p.m. with the lighting of the Olympic flame – the same flame that presided over Vancouver’s Winter Olympic Games in 2010. The flame will light an evening filled with food and entertainment themed around the communities that make up Vancouver. From the native First Nations people of the Northwest, to Chinese dragons, to art, artists and musicians, prepare for a memorable night of fine cuisine, dance, music and fireworks.
