Dear Fellow ReMA Member,
As we approach the end of 2023, I want to express my deep appreciation for each of you. Your commitment and hard work have driven a year filled with growth, innovation and significant achievements at ISRI.
This year, we've reached new heights. Our organizational growth has been phenomenal, with membership surpassing 1,600 and our ISRI2023 Convention in Nashville attracting a record-breaking 6,600 attendees. Our Roundtables have become critical events for networking and expert market insights, with this year's attendance setting a new record.
Our policy achievements have been equally impressive. We've advocated for a science-based approach to decarbonization through the adoption of a new GSCC Global Steel standard, participated in negotiations to establish global commitments for recycled plastics, and spread ISRI’s and our industry’s voice throughout Capitol Hill this summer, meeting with more than 100 lawmakers in both the House and Senate on our priority issues during our annual Washington Fly-In. These efforts — and others — have positioned ReMA as a leader in shaping a more sustainable future.
In the realm of innovation and collaboration, we've also made significant strides. From hosting the Circularity & Electrification Action Summit bringing together automakers, battery manufacturers, policymakers and recyclers to launching the first-of-its-kind electric vehicle safety training and continued participation in the REMADE Institute, our contributions pave the way for a circular economy. Notably in 2024, we also launched a Fiber Recycling Readiness Tool providing clear guidance to brand owners, packaging companies and others on whether their packaging will successfully pass through the current recycling infrastructure.
Additional initiatives, including our monthly virtual workshops on ESG, the launch of a new Workforce Development website, our youth outreach program with JASON Learning, and our collaboration with the U.S. Department of Commerce, which allowed us to expand ISRI’s Specifications creating a new interactive, online recycled commodities specifications resource, have all contributed to our mission. Finally, the ReMA Women in Recycling Council's mentorship program has also further solidified our role as a critical player in the recycling industry.
Your dedication and innovative thinking have been instrumental in strengthening ReMA and advancing the recycled materials industry. As we look forward to 2024, I am confident that with your ongoing support, we will continue our upward trajectory and achieve even more.
Let's enter 2024 with a shared sense of optimism and determination, ready to further our journey toward prosperity, innovation and making a meaningful impact in our industry. Together, we are creating real change.
