Industry Leaders Tout Recycled Materials Sector’s Impact During Congressional Fly-In

(February 26, 2025 - Washington, D.C.) – More than 150 recyclers from across the country were on Capitol Hill today meeting with lawmakers as part of the Recycled Materials Association’s (ReMA) 2025 Congressional Fly-In.

 

ReMA members had one unifying message: America is Made with Recycled Materials. The message is part of the industry’s recently launched campaign to introduce the association’s new name and brand identity – and to emphasize that recycled materials are everywhere. From everyday items to our essential infrastructure, recycled materials strengthen the manufacturing supply chain to ensure a stronger economy, supply chain, and nation.

 

“The recycled materials industry plays a crucial role in every Congressional district in the United States,” said Robin Wiener, President of ReMA. “Our members supply high-quality, renewable resources for everything from essential national infrastructure, like bridges and buildings, to consumer products like laptops, beverage cans, boxes, and cars. It’s hard to go a day—or even an hour—without using a product made in part with recycled material.”

 

Throughout the day, recyclers conducted 140 meetings with U.S. Representatives, Senators, and their staff. Among the topics discussed were protection against tariffs and export restrictions, support for resilient supply chains and essential designation for the recycled materials industry, and extended PFAS liability protections for passive receivers.

 

“The recycled materials industry is excited to share our message – as well as our new look and name – with the new Administration and members of Congress. We are creating a surround sound approach so that everyone in Washington understands our industry’s impact,” said Wiener.
