Introduces Five Scrap-Handling Machines.

Liebherr-America, Inc., demonstrated five new pieces of scrap-handling equipment at a recent two-day scrap processing and handling show at its manufacturing plant in Newport News, Virginia.

The company introduced scrap processors and equipment distributors to several machines designed for scrap handling and similar industrial applications.

The A 912 EW industrial material handler, with an operating weight of 41,400 pounds, is equipped with a

101-Bhp Liebherr water-cooled diesel engine, a thermostatically controlled hydraulic oil cooler, and four outriggers. Liebherr points out that all electrical components for magnet operation are mounted inside the cab elevation and that all high voltage wires are kept out of the operator's cab for added safety. A 24-volt relay circuit energizes and de-energizes the magnet via a switch on the right joystick. A separate magnet safety disconnect lever is located within easy reach of the operator. The A 912 EW operates with rubber tires while the similar R 912 EW is a crawler model.

The A 922 EW is a 46,600-pound rubber-tire material handier powered with a 143-Bhp diesel engine. The R 932 EW is a 63,600-pound crawler model with a 161-Bhp diesel engine. Both models are available with Liebherr factory-installed, V-belt-driven 15- or 20-kW generators for, with the A 922 EW, 55- to 60-inch magnets, and with the R 932 EW, 55- to 66-inch magnets.

The R 952 EW crawler model is designed to meet larger recycling production requirements, according to Liebherr. The company notes that it has an extra-wide undercarriage for improved lift capability and stability, and a hydraulically driven, 25-kW generator capable of handling a 66-inch magnet.

Each of the models can be equipped with a variety of attachments, including a multi-tine grapple and a clamshell, all with 360-degree continuous rotation. Liebherr also reports that these models have upper carriages that can be pedestal-mounted for higher reach, better visibility, and increased 360-degree stability.
