Convention delegates will have the opportunity to browse through a 100-booth trade show, attend topical educational seminars and workshops led by industry experts, and enjoy gala social events, such as a black-tie dinner and shopping on Rodeo Drive.

Keynoters

Pierre Salinger, Chief Foreign Correspondent, ABC News, will speak at The Keynote Breakfast on Thursday, January 14.

Television commentator Linda Ellerbee, author of the bestselling book, "And So It Goes," will be the featured speaker at a special spouse luncheon on Thursday, January 14. Earl D. Brodie, former chief executive officer of Brodie Meters/Valves, will lead a session entitled, "When Your Name Is On The Door." Brodie will advise participants on how to cope with a host of common business problems in the areas of production, personnel, and labor relations.

Variety of Seminars, Workshops

Convention delegates will have ample opportunity to hone their business skills and learn about new industry trends and techniques at the more than 15 separate educational programs. Sample programs include "How to Establish the Real Value of Closely-Held and Privately-Owned Businesses," "Zinc and Lead," "Motivation Ideas for Your Employees," and "Hazardous Waste Update."

Turn your convention stay into a mini-vacation. There are plenty of interesting and exciting events planned, including:

Workshops

"Just What Is the Scrap Industry Anyway," providing an overview of the scrap recycling industry, its terminology, production methods, and distribution methods.

"Mentally Tough," a four-hour, two-part program designed to teach you how to reach your peak performance in any activity.

Tours and Trips

Huntington Gardens and Library and Norton Simeon Museum, part of the 207-acre estate of railroad tycoon Henry E. Huntington. The art gallery collection emphasizes English and French paintings of the 18th century, including Gainsborough's "Blue Boy."

The J. Paul Getty Museum, on magnificent Malibu Drive. Getty's collection has grown to become one of the most important collections of Greek and Roman antiquities in America, as well as an impressive array of French 18th century furniture.

Phyllis Morris Studio, decorator to the stars, including a 27,000 square foot labyrinth displaying complete room settings, custom furnishings, and rare art objects.

Rodeo Drive, the most famous shopping strip in the country features designers such as Gucci, Ralph Lauren, and Yves St. Laurent.

Universal Studios brings you behind the scenes to see what really goes into making a movie. The tour includes a tram ride through the studio's famous backlot, as well as an assortment of shows and programs.
